May 24 2007 – Buck Island, VA

The USCG rescue shown above is in response to a MayDay call from a brand new Sportfishing boat that we think was being driven by a delivery crew. They ran aground hard going 28 knots and holed the boat on a charted shoal. The captain was thrown foward opening a gash in his head. The mate was thrown off a ladder and sustained several injuries. The Coast Guard responed in record time with a C-130 overheard and a helicopter minutes later. The copter dropped a medic on board and airlifted the mate out.
